the way she wears it

Just another WordPress weblog

And so it begins …

So a gorgeous nerdy friend of mine, Darryn suggested he set up a blog for me and since there is no subject I enjoy talking about more than myself I decided it was a good idea. I can’t promise you it will be interesting or full of laughter and tears but it seems a pretty good way for me to remember what I’ve done a few months/years down the track without having to make the commitment to a paper diary (and I imagine a good place for people to stalk me)

Now I guess is a good as time as any to start. I’ve had a pretty full on week. I was approached by one of the music industries biggest producers to come up with an image for his new artist. His past artists include Kylie M and Sting amongst hundreds of others so already I was feeling the pressure to perform. I went along to the initial meeting and loved the artist straight away, however she was going to be an image challenge, she is incredibly beautiful but plus size, something that the London fashion market does not cater for, especially the labels/designers I usually use. After two days of traipsing around London during a tube strike we put together three looks and were on our way. Yesterday we did the initial press shoot, Martin was the photographer, a guy who I have worked with loads of times and socialized with more (including two weeks in a very cramped apartment in Sydney and endless drunken hours in my parents pool) so it was an absolute hoot and good to work together on a good paying job for once. The artist was excited and the producer seemed happy. Enough to take me to Royal China for dinner – such a fun night and if nothing else Ive made a good friend of the artist. There is talk of me going to Chicago and/or Houston with them soon so fingers crossed.

On Tuesday night I went to a clairvoyant, I’ve been to her a few times and she is always spot on. My friend Melinda has been and swears by her, so does my mum. However she couldn’t get a connection with me and so gave up. She didn’t charge me but I left very disappointed and a little scared of crossing the street – I’m still alive though so all is good.

Today I woke up feeling rebellious and decided to throw caution to the wind and take the day off. Called mum and convinced her Nobu was in order for lunch. Quickly dressed, closed the door to my office (and all the work sitting there) and headed off for cocktails. It is not the first time I’ve been to Nobu, but it may just be the last. It took half an hour for our cocktails to arrive and even longer for the wine, the food was nice but not spectacular. To rescue the day we headed to Selfridges where I bought a tiara for the fancy dress party tomorrow and some clothes (cos I so need more clothes). I was supposed to go out for Belinda’s birthday with Keith & Lucy tonight but we had to postpone - so sad, so I invited Gavin to London for the night but he has rehearsal early tomorrow and couldn’t get there and back in time, in hindsight, now I am sitting here with Salmon and Seabass sashimi, Charbonne et Walker chocolates and a bottle or Sancerre I am pleased I am alone, its been a while since I had a night in with no distractions …

Tomorrow I am going to Joey’s fancy dress party – Theme is Bring Back The British Empire. I am going as Princess Diana and Grace is going as Camilla Parker Bowls. I’ve managed to convince Murf and Ryan to come. In true Di form I’ve booked a massage and facial for tomorrow, cant wait !!

Well for someone that was apprehensive about doing a blog I seem to have written an essay so I’m going to sign off and go back to singing along to X Factor…
