About
My name is Lydia-Jane Saunders. I am a Sydney based fashion stylist who regularly travels to London for work and to visit my parents.
I have been styling for 9 years now. I never dreamt of being a stylist. Infact I did a Communications degree in Media and Cultural Studies with dreams of being a journalist. In my last year at university I did an internship at Marie Claire magazine where I fell in love with all things fashion. From Marie Claire I moved to Instyle magazine and worked as fashion assistant. Here I really learnt what it was like to work in fashion. I assisted Judith Cook and Sophie Cranston who I really looked up to.
I left InStyle after only 6 months because London was calling. In London I started to assist Julia Robson, one of London’s best stylists. I then went on to assist the amazing Hilary Alexander. She is London’s Anna Wintour. A truly inspiring woman who I learnt a lot from. It was whilst I was assisting Hilary that I felt I had enough confidence and contacts to start freelancing. I worked as a freelance stylist in London for the following 4 years. I freelanced for some amazing magazines, some great advertisng clients and some wonderful teams. One job even saw me working in Tuscany for a week – a dream come true.
I have been back in Australia since the end of 2007. I work here as a freelance stylist and personal shopper and I also have a jewellery label called Lydia Jewels
